Ripple has achieved a significant milestone by being officially recognized as a crypto asset service provider by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). This listing follows Ripple's recent licensing in the region, allowing the company to expand its operations across Europe.
With this development, Ripple Payments Europe SA has received full authorization to function as a crypto asset service provider. Thanks to its recent licensing in Luxembourg, Ripple is now positioned to offer its crypto services to financial institutions and businesses within all 30 countries of the European Economic Area.
The official listing comes as part of a wave of new authorizations, with 14 other crypto firms also gaining full licenses, bringing the total number of licensed crypto asset service providers in Europe to 294. This surge in authorized firms indicates a growing acceptance and regulation of the crypto industry within European markets.
This recognition not only marks an important step for Ripple but also shines a spotlight on its associated cryptocurrency, XRP. With the company now fully eligible to provide crypto payment services throughout Europe, the potential for Ripple-based token projects, including XRP, XRPL, and RLUSD, to gain real-world applications is on the rise. As the space continues to evolve, the implications for broader adoption of XRP become increasingly evident.
