In an exciting development for crypto enthusiasts, Robinhood is expanding its agentic trading platform to the realm of cryptocurrencies. This enhancement allows eligible users in the U.S. to connect artificial intelligence models directly to Robinhood’s trading framework.

The launch coincides with the unveiling of Robinhood Chain, the company’s new Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain. Alongside this, Robinhood is introducing innovative products such as tokenized stocks, perpetual futures, and lending options for stablecoins.

User Control with AI

According to CEO Vlad Tenev, the long-term vision aims to give AI agents comprehensive capabilities akin to human traders while ensuring users maintain control by defining risk thresholds. This was highlighted during the company’s recent event, “The World Is Flat,” where it was announced that AI trading tools would now extend beyond traditional equities and options.

How It Works

The new features allow users to integrate their chosen AI models via Robinhood’s Trading Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once linked, these AI systems can access market data and trading tools to conduct analysis, track market conditions, and execute trades based on parameters set by the user.

Importantly, customers retain full control over their capital and risk management. Spending limits and trading safeguards must be established before AI can execute any orders, and users receive notifications for each transaction, promoting engagement and oversight in their investment strategies.

Expanding Blockchain Infrastructure

This AI initiative is part of a larger strategy by Robinhood to enhance blockchain-based financial infrastructure. At the same time, the company launched the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain, aimed at supporting tokenized real-world assets.

Moreover, Robinhood has rolled out tokenized U.S. stocks within the Robinhood Wallet, facilitating trading of blockchain-based equity tokens for users in over 120 countries, thereby broadening its international reach.

Along with these advancements, Robinhood is also set to introduce decentralized perpetual futures through Lighter and the Robinhood Earn program. This allows eligible users to earn yields by lending the company’s stablecoin, USDG.

As Robinhood accelerates its global expansion following its acquisition of WonderFi, the company is actively planning to enter the Canadian cryptocurrency market, demonstrating its commitment to growing its presence across borders and enhancing its platform offerings.
