Bitdeer Technologies has officially announced the opening of a new factory worth $36 million in Nevada, aimed at boosting the production of its SEALMINER Bitcoin mining machines in the United States.

Why This Development Matters

This significant investment is expected to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities while diminishing reliance on external suppliers for essential mining equipment. The facility, located in Sparks, is set to kick off commercial production by the end of 2026.

  • Investment amount: $36 million
  • Location: Sparks, Nevada
  • Expected commercial production start: By the end of 2026
  • Bitdeer shares jumped 14.1% following the announcement

Bitdeer's stock experienced a notable increase of 14.1%, rising to $14.33, although it still sits around 27% lower than its peak in June. Since the beginning of the year, the shares have gained approximately 26% in value.

The Singapore-based company collaborated closely with Nevada's Governor Joe Lombardo and local officials to establish the Sparks facility. According to Bitdeer CEO Catherine Guo, the state approved various tax incentives, including diminished sales taxes, to support the project.

Strategic Focus on Bitcoin Mining

This new manufacturing plant will specifically concentrate on producing Bitcoin mining equipment rather than diversifying into artificial intelligence hardware. While Bitdeer has branched out into AI cloud computing and high-performance computing services, these ventures will remain separate from the Nevada operation.

The broader trend among Bitcoin miners includes increasingly investing in AI, as seen with other companies like MARA Holdings, which plans to develop a site in Texas to support AI and digital infrastructure projects, boosting their operational capacity.

Looking Ahead

As the industry continues to evolve, observers should keep an eye on upcoming developments, including the operational launch of the Nevada factory and other potential partnerships in AI and cryptocurrency sectors. Notably, TeraWulf recently signed a 20-year lease with AI startup Anthropic, indicating the growing intermingling of AI and mining sectors.
